Veterinary Referral Requirements

Veterinary physiotherapists operate under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, which requires veterinary consent to be obtained before any physiotherapy assessment or treatment can take place.

This legislation ensures that physiotherapists work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons, allowing animals to receive safe, appropriate, and coordinated care. Veterinary referral also helps ensure that any underlying medical conditions have been properly assessed and that physiotherapy is suitable for the patient.

To make this process simple, you can download and complete the veterinary consent form to provide to your veterinary practice.

Alternatively, if you would prefer assistance, you may submit an enquiry form and Honor can contact your veterinary practice directly to request consent on your behalf.

Physiotherapy appointments can then be scheduled once veterinary approval has been received.

How to Obtain Veterinary Consent

Owners may download the form below and send it to their veterinary practice for completion.

Consent Requested on Your Behalf

Alternatively, owners may submit their details using the contact form. Honor Collins Veterinary Physiotherapy will liaise with your veterinary surgeon to obtain consent.
